Storms,Powerless, MRI, Panic,

March 26 - So long as you entertain the notion that there is something or someone else out there "doing it" to you, your disempower yourself to do anything about it. Meditations from "Conversations with God - Book 1" page 36
.
Crack. Boom, Flashes of light and rain and hail and....
Rosalie called me today about the tornadoes that touched down in Spring (?) last night. Told her not to my knowledge but we did have basketball sized hail. "Basketball?" she asked. I asked what made you say basketball? She said well that's what you said. I don't remember that but hell, who knows what I might have said. Basketball size? Can you imagine the amount of damage those things could do. Why they would have to weigh 25 lbs. No I have not been drinking or anything like that. Just oldspeak I guess.
.
Anyway we lost power for a few minutes, and it came and went for a couple of hours, so I just unplugged by computer and went to bed. I did not want the cmptr to become a surge victim. I plugged it back in after 6:30 tonight.
.
Had my MRI this afternoon. My appointment was a 2 PM. It was supposed to be an open MRI and the technician told me it was an oversized MRI machine. Well, in I went and about 10 minutes into the MRI I went into a panic, could not breathe and my chest felt like I had an elephant sitting on it. They got me right out and I was wet with sweat. I have never had anything like that happen before. So thirty minutes later I was given and open MRI. Now the difference is huge. I got though the first 25 minutes fine. Then they gave me the contrast dye via needle and I finished the last 10 minutes with ease. I don't know what happened on the first one, I've had MRI's before. But all's well that ends well. It rained like a sun of a gun while I was at the image place. I mean it poured. I got home at 6:30. That's one more test, done, and over with.
.
Tonight I am grateful for:
  • God my Higher Power
  • My Sobriety
  • Mamie, my OCD schnauzer.
  • My Sponsor.
  • Not throwing a brick at my TV while an 89 year old woman is singing PLAYMATE and playing a F%$#%$ accordion. (My grandmother hated an accordion.) I thought the only thing that could be played on one of those was "Lady of Spain."
  • Getting through the day.
  • Not having to drive in today's downpour.
  • Not wanting to drink after the MRI experience

Y'all be pretty now, ya heah.

Zane I also hate the accordian. But "TEA FOR TWO" can be given a good ride on that SQUEEZE BOX.

Now when an agent calls for me to play violin with an accordianist, I tell them I'm already booked for that night, even if I ain't. It's great to be allowed--and able--to say "NO!"

I'd kinda like to see some basketball sized hail...

I had your MRI experience once, it has never happened since. That pinging noise drives me bonkers, though..

Glad you (and your 'puter) survived the storm!

Love and big sloppy smooches, Annie

Glad you got through the MRI. I had a similiar reaction in these machines, so I know what you went through.

Glad you made it through the storm and the MRI. Kinda symbolic that they were both happening together, huh? I know, I think wierd. jeNN

Glad that you got through the MRI okay. It sounds like a bit of claustrophobia. Have a great Friday.

IMHO - the 'basketball' sized hail is a product of "literary license" to increase effect. I love a little exaggeration!

If you understand what I just wrote, you're doing better than I am. -VBG-

MRI over!!! Storm over!!! Panic over!!! Gratitude growing!

I was curious about hail stones so I poked around and found this:

The largest hailstone ever recorded fell on 22nd June 2003, and measured 7 inches in diameter (17.8 centimeters) and 18.75 inches (47.6 centimeters) in circumference, this is equivalent to almost the size of a football. The stone was from a severe storm that affected the area of south-central Nebraska, and was discovered in the town of Aurora. The stone was preserved by local residents and then transported to the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, where it will be preserved indefinitely. Although this may be the largest hailstone, it is not officially the heaviest as approximately 40% of the stone was missing from an impact with a house gutter as it fell. The heaviest hailstones on record fell in Gopalganj, Bangladesh, on the 14 April 1986 and weighed over 1 kilogram, they are reported to have killed 92 people. (1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs)

I don't have any problem w/tight places but Joe does. Can they not just put headphones on w/your favorite mucis? If they need you they could just poke you.

It has rained here for a few days. We needed it though. Last I heard we were 2.5 inches short.
